F1 Singapore GP: Top 5 most successful drivers at the track

The 2026 Singapore GP is on the horizon, with the Marina Bay Street Circuit hosting a sprint weekend for the first time. The track was added to the calendar in 2008 as the first night race in F1, and has since then become a fan favorite.

Back in the 2010s, the Singapore GP was a marquee event for the sport alongside the Monaco GP. However, with the introduction of the Las Vegas GP, the Marina Bay Street Circuit has lost a bit of its luster.

From a racing point of view, the Marina Bay Street Circuit is demanding on the drivers with the extreme heat and humidity. The overtaking opportunities are few, making the qualifying and the pitstop strategy that much more important.

Over the years, only a handful of drivers have stood out at the Singapore GP with multiple wins to their names, which includes Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. Let’s have a look at the five most successful drivers at the Marina Bay Street Circuit

#5 Nico Rosberg

Nico Rosberg won one race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, which came in 2016 during his championship battle against Lewis Hamilton. What separates Nico Rosberg from the other drivers who’ve won one Singapore GP, including Sergio Perez, George Russell and Carlos Sainz, is the fact that the German also has a podium to his name. He finished P2 at the inaugural Singapore GP in 2008 with Williams.

#4 Lando Norris

Lando Norris has three podiums, including a win to his name at the Singapore GP. The Briton has stood on the podium during the last three races at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Norris won the 2024 race, finished P3 last year, and P2 in 2023.

#3 Fernando Alonso

Fernando Alonso won the inaugural Singapore GP at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in the Renault. It was the race infamous for the crashgate scandal where Nelson Piquet Jr. deliberately crashed to give Alonso an advantage. Alonso also won the 2010 Singapore GP driving for Ferrari. Apart from the wins, Alonso also has two P3 and one P2 finish at the track.

#2 Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton has four wins to his name at the Singapore GP. The first win came during the 2009 race with McLaren. The remaining three victories came when he was driving for Mercedes, in 2014, 2017 and 2018. Hamilton also has three P3 finishes at the Marina Bay Street Circuit

#1 Sebastian Vettel

Sebastian Vettel dominated the Singapore GP during his championship-winning years, with three consecutive victories at the track from 2011 to 2013. The German also won the 2015 and 2019 Singapore GPs driving for Ferrari. Vettel finished the race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit eight times on the podium, making him the most successful F1 driver at the circuit.
