Who is richer between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton?

Let us explore the difference between what the two latest F1 world champions are worth.

As of 2025, Lewis Hamilton has a net worth of $450 Million [€390 Million]. In comparison, Max Verstappen is worth $200 million [€173 Million] (figures via Celebrity Net Worth). This puts the 7x world champion ahead by a significant margin.

Hamilton has stayed at the top of F1 for almost two decades. This is the primary reason for the disparity. He has earned numerous lucrative contracts and bonuses for winning championships. Apart from this, the Briton has no shortage of brands lining up to sign him up. He is the face of F1 after all.

Max Verstappen, on the other hand, is still one of the richer F1 drivers. The 4x world champion has also attracted multiple big contracts at Red Bull in the last decade. Being the reigning world champ also brings many endorsements along with it.

A deeper dive into Hamilton and Verstappen’s net worth

Lewis Hamilton was reportedly earning $60 Million annually at Mercedes towards the end of his stint at the German team. After his move to Ferrari, the 40-year-old is reported to be earning close to $100 Million a year.

Off the track, Hamilton has multiple major brand endorsements. This includes Tommy Hilfiger, Puma, Dior and Lululemon. He also recently switched from IWC to Richard Mille as his watch sponsor. This would have been a lucrative new deal, without a doubt. He has also partnered up with AI company Perplexity recently.

The driver is hence estimated to earn anywhere from around $20-30 Million from brand deals in a year.

Max Verstappen is reported to have earned $67 million from Red Bull in 2024. This includes his base salary and performance-based bonuses. He is the F1 world champion after all. Apart from this, Verstappen is the brand ambassador of AlphaTauri, Red Bull’s fashion brand. TAG Heuer, Heineken, ViaPlay and EA Sports are also some of his major brand partners.

As of now, Verstappen is far behind Hamilton in terms of the money they have earned. Similarly, Fernando Alonso is also the only other driver on the F1 grid who is richer than the Dutchman. Longevity in the sport is again the root cause behind this.

It is safe to say that Verstappen could even earn more money than the two veterans if he stays in the sport as long as them. But it is not likely that he will, as per his own admission.
