At just 18 years old, Andrea Kimi Antonelli was Mercedes’ pick to replace the legendary Lewis Hamilton. The Italian protégé was and is massively backed by Silver Arrows boss Toto Wolff. But away from the racetrack, the youngster has handled himself brilliantly in the media, showcasing maturity beyond his years. So, who are Kimi Antonelli’s parents, who have raised the teenage gentleman?
Kimi Antonelli is the son of Marco and Elisabetta Antonelli. The couple raised the youngest ever driver to race for Mercedes in F1. Here is a more detailed look at Antonelli’s parents.
Who are Kimi Antonelli’s parents?
Marco and Elisabetta Antonelli welcomed Andrea Kimi Antonelli into the world on August 25, 2006, in Bologna, Italy.
Antonelli’s dad, Marco, is a racing driver and motorsport executive himself. The Italian has most recently competed in the 2024 Italian GT championship. He is also the owner and team principal of the AKM Motorsport team, which competes in multiple series, including the International GT Open and the Porsche Supercup.
Marco also raced in four seasons of the Italian Superturismo Championship from 1992 to 1996. It is safe to say that Kimi comes from a heritage of motor racing. His dad spent over 30 years in the world of motorsports, competing in various disciplines. Nowadays, Marco is spotted supporting his son at race weekends.
Unfortunately, there is little to no public information about Antonelli’s mother, Elisabetta. The Italian has chosen to keep her personal life private. However, her teenage son did once reveal that one of the reasons he is still attending his high school, even after becoming an F1 driver, is his mother. [via F1.com]
Antonelli shared that his mother deeply cares about the 18-year-old’s education. The Mercedes driver also claimed that he does not really want to complete his studies, but recognizes the importance it holds.
Antonelli also has a younger sister, named Maggie. She was recently spotted with her brother and dad at the Japanese Grand Prix earlier in the year.
How has Kimi Antonelli fared so far in his debut F1 season?
Kimi Antonelli has had a decent start to life in F1, finishing in the top 6 in five out of the first six races of the 2025 season. Straightaway, he made his mark and impressed during his debut F1 outing in Melbourne. Antonelli had qualified in P16 for the Australian Grand Prix but came through the field to finish in fourth.
His drive amid torrid, wet conditions at Albert Park proved why Mercedes has backed the teenager to no end. Antonelli’s biggest highlight of the 2025 season came when he earned the Sprint pole position at the Miami Grand Prix. The Italian became the youngest-ever pole sitter in F1 in Florida.
He also broke two records at the Japanese Grand Prix, becoming the youngest driver ever to lead an F1 race and to earn the fastest lap in a race.
Antonelli has had a slight dip in form in the last three races, though. But the reliability of the Mercedes W16 has also contributed to this. He had to retire his car at both the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix and the Spanish Grand Prix, due to engine-related issues.
