Hair loss is largely down to genetics. But high-pressure situations and stress can also lead to this problem. F1 drivers are no strangers to such situations. They even have to wear crash helmets for long periods, which cannot help with hair health. Here are a few F1 drivers rumored to have gotten hair transplants.
Lewis Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton is reported to have gotten a hair transplant. A comparison between the 7x world champion’s hairline from 2007 to now marks a significant change. The Briton had practically no hair on his head when he made his F1 debut at the age of just 22. Today, his full hairline looks dramatically restored. Many hair experts and clinics have claimed is a clear sign of a transplant.
Hamilton has denied these reports of a hair transplant. He has claimed that the improved growth of his hair is down to him taking better care of it, rather than surgery.
Sebastian Vettel
Sebastian Vettel has never confirmed or denied reports of getting a hair transplant. But the 4x world champion is reported to have undergone surgery in 2021. Many fans and hair experts spotted that the German driver had a short hairstyle and a receding hairline until 2021. But he later sported a longer hairstyle, showcasing a head full of hair.
UK-based hair clinic Wimpole has even suggested that Vettel may have undergone one surgery in 2018, leading to the shorter hairstyle, followed by another in 2021.
Pierre Gasly
Pierre Gasly rocked up to the 2025 pre-season testing with a buzz cut. This simply looked like a change of hairstyle for the Frenchman at the time, but experts and fans now speculated it to be more.
Many health experts have claimed that Gasly’s hairline seems to have changed in 2025. Even fans have weighed in, claiming that his hairline now looks completely different than last year.
A large percentage of the male population in the world suffers from issues regarding hair loss. And a high number of celebrities are known to have gotten hair transplants. It may well be a similar case for these drivers, and perhaps even more.
Much like most other celebrities, none of these drivers have actually come out and confirmed getting a hair transplant. A major change is an F1 driver’s hairline is also difficult to spot.
