Fernando Alonso first made his F1 debut in 2001. The Spaniard has been in the public spotlight for over two decades. He has a huge fanbase, that is naturally curious about his personal life as well. But the 2x world champion has managed to keep many details of his personal life private. This also means information about his family life, including information about whether or not he has any children.
The Aston Martin driver has dated many celebrities over the years and was previously married for over five years. But how many children does Fernando Alonso have?
As of June 2025, there is no public record of Fernando Alonso having any children. The 43-year-old has never publicly announced or confirmed fathering any children either.
Over the years, various rumors have circulated on social media. Some fans thought Alonso might be secretly raising a family away from the spotlight. However, there is no credible evidence to support these claims. Alonso himself has also never suggested that he is a father.
Alonso has had several high-profile relationships. He was married to Spanish singer Raquel del Rosario from 2006 to 2011. After their separation, he dated Russian model Dasha Kapustina, Spanish journalist Lara Álvarez, and Italian model Linda Morselli over the years.
Recently, Alonso and Austrian TV presenter Andrea Schlager were rumored to be dating. None of these relationships resulted in children, at least based on public information.
Fernando Alonso talks about his views on family and children
Fernando Alonso has claimed that he wants to spend more time with his family and friends, once he finally calls it a day on his racing career. The Spaniard once left F1 behind in 2018 but continued racing in other series around the world.
Speaking in 2023, Alonso claimed that becoming a father and starting a family is something that he wants to do after retiring. The driver even said that becoming a father is his “biggest dream in life”, away from motorsports. [via Speedcafe.com]
He said,
“I want to have a family. This is my biggest dream in life, to have kids, to have a family, and I’ve still not succeeded in that because of my way of living.”
Speaking on the High-Performance podcast in August 2023, Alonso also admitted that his commitments to F1 may be the biggest reason why he does not have a child already.
Alonso is not going anywhere for now though. Recently, the Spaniard has claimed that while he knows the end of his career is near, it has not yet come. Alonso has mentioned that he would like to get to 2026 and see how motivated he still feels to carry on, before deciding on retiring.
Alonso has also admitted that the competitiveness of Aston Martin’s 2026 car could well influence how long he stays in F1 as well. The British team’s 2026 challenger will be powered by Honda, and designed by Adrian Newey.
Lawrence Stroll has invested heavily in the project and he will be hoping his revamped Aston Martin will start performing for race wins and podiums under next year’s regulations.
